Fairy (Williams) Haynes

May 21, 1921 ~ June 28, 2017 (age 96)

The Piano Brothers

Mrs. Fairy Williams Haynes, age 96, of Marion, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on June 28, 2017 at Rose Hill Retirement Community after a period of declining health.  Fairy was born in McDowell County on May 21, 1921 to the late John A. Williams and Molly Wright Williams.  She was a longtime, faithful member of Clinchfield Baptist Church who loved her church family and church activities very much.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Bonnie Faye Minish and her beloved husband Clarence Haynes.  Her love for her grandchildren and their families was evident in the interest and support she gave to each of them.  Her interests were many and included gardening, providing delicious meals for her family and simply being outdoors, doing things in the splendor of God’s creation.  Her family and many friends and neighbors loved her very much.  All who knew this remarkable lady are saddened by her passing but rejoice in the fact that she is now with her loved ones who went before her but most of all with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Fairy leaves behind two granddaughters, Kathy Buchanan and husband Ray of Morganton and Bonnie Arrowood of Marion; two sisters, Lillian Smith of Drexel and Bernice Evans and husband Donald of Chuckey, Tenn.; three great-grandchildren, Brandy Kerns and husband Verlin of South Carolina, Kathy Styles and husband Bradley of Granite Falls, and Greg Buchanan of Morganton; and four great-great-grandchildren, Aubrey Boeke of Old Fort and Abigail, Emily and Cain Styles of Granite Falls.

A service in celebration of her life and home-going will take place on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Terry Roach officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park where she will be laid to rest beside her cherished Clarence.  Memorials may be made to the Rose Hill Resident Activity Fund at 120 Fleming Avenue, Marion, NC 28752, or to Hospice of Rutherford County at PO Box 336, Forest City, NC 28043.
