Mr. James “Kelly” Daggett, age 89, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at McGregor Downs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, NC.  Mr. Daggett was born in Blue Mound, KS on December 11, 1927 to the late James Daggett and Opal Goodwin Daggett.  He was a carpenter and built several hundred houses in McDowell County during his career.  He enjoyed his work and was good at it.  Over the years he made many friends through his work and those that knew him appreciated his sense of humor and lighthearted disposition.  He was a faithful member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church.  His beloved wife, Ruby L. Daggett, preceded him in death.

 

Surviving are his son, Kelly L. Daggett and wife Nhung of Winterville, NC; three sisters, Bell Jenkins of Soda Springs, ID, Cappie and husband Paul of Wendell, ID, and Betty Dotson of Sode Springs, ID; and two grandchildren, Kelly Lynn Padgett and Thi Lynn Daggett.

 

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at McDowell Memorial Park with Rev. Douglas Prevette officiating.  Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, NC  32256.  Westmoreland Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
