Judy Crawley Stroupe, age 67, of Marion, left this world for her heavenly home, surrounded by loved ones at Hospice of Rutherford County on Thursday, January 27, 2011 following an extended illness. A native of McDowell County, she was born on June 16, 1943 to the late Guy and Josephine Odom Crawley. Judy will be remembered by her friends and family as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, extraordinary aunt and friend. She was a woman with a golden heart, outlined in platinum, who would give anyone in need the shirt off her back. She loved many things in nature including roses, birds, dogs and cats and loved to watch flowers grow. She was an excellent cook. Judy was a member of Mt. Calvary Free Will Baptist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Leroy Stroupe of the home; her step-mother, Alma Crawley of Marion; three sons, Gary and Greg Williams of Marion and Michael Williams and his wife Kim of Mills River; a sister, Clara Crawley Ledford and her husband Jack Daniel of Marion; a grandson, Jesse; a great granddaughter, Chelsea; seven nieces, Joann Spaleta, Carolyn Slaughter, Edna Bickett, Sissy Radford, Tracy Hollifield, Wendy Causby and Megan Wisor; two nephews, Caleb Stroupe and Kenny Trivett; and an adopted niece, Erin Andrews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 30, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Rick Wood officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at McDowell Memorial Park.
