Mr. Leonard Columbus Revis, age 83, of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.  He was born in McDowell County on October 18, 1933 to the late Herman E. and Gussie Hunter Revis.  A veteran of the U. S. Marine Corps, he served faithfully during the Korean War.  Mr. Revis was retired from Owen Steel Co.  Following retirement, he and his wife owned and ran the Len & Jen Trucking Co. for fourteen years.  He really loved old cars, and having done some restoration in the past, he was very knowledgeable when it came to the old classic cars.  But his family was where his heart was and he loved them very much.  His outgoing personality won him many friends and he will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.

 

Left to remember this loving man are his beloved wife of 23 years, Olive “Jennie” McAllister Revis of the home; seven children, Debbe Hicks (Bob), Pam Miller (Doug), Chris Revis, Jona Kreisman, Jena Wilson (Bruce), Alan Ogle (Karen), and Penny Mitchum (Mike); a sister, Juanita Yates; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.

 

A service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ronnie Gentry officiating.  The family will. receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial, with military honors conducted by the U. S. Marine Corps, will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
