Mildred “Tootie” Elliott Ledbetter, age 79, of Hickory, died Sunday February 26, 2017 at College Pines Nursing Center in Valdese after a long battle with cancer. A native of McDowell County, she was born March 4, 1937 to the late Paul and Odell Davis Elliott of Old Fort. Mildred was the wife of the late Eugene G. “Boots” Ledbetter. She worked for 35 years at Snyder Paper Co. in Hickory and attended Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Connelly Springs. Mildred loved going to the beach and looking for sea shells.

 

Left to remember Mildred are four brothers, Ted Roger Elliott and wife Elizabeth, Charles Ray Elliott and wife Nancy, all of Marion, Jack Tony Elliott and wife Sandy of Connelly Springs, and Donnie A. Elliott of Weaverville; Sister-in-law Margaret “Bebe” Ragaz of Marion; Special friend Carroll Reed; and four nephews, six nieces and several great nephews and nieces.

 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 3:00PM in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Ebenezer United Methodist Church Cemetery. Memorials can be sent to Comprehensive Cancer Center -  Catawba Valley Medical Center, 810 Fairgrove Church Rd. SE, Hickory, NC 28602.
