Nancy (McGee) Browning

November 6, 1953 ~ April 11, 2017 (age 63)

The Piano Brothers

Mrs. Nancy McGee Browning, age 63, of Knoxville, TN, formerly of McDowell County, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at her home after many years of declining health.  Nancy was born in McDowell County on November 6, 1953 and was raised in Nebo, a daughter of the late William Alfonzo McGee and Katherine Washburn McGee.  She was a graduate of Nebo High School and was an excellent student and outstanding athlete there, particularly on the basketball team.  She married her husband of 43 years, Richard Browning, and they lived in several different communities as his work led him, including Morristown and Knoxville, Tenn. And also in Chillicothe, OH for five years from 1997 to 2002.  She found employment as they moved around at various occupations at Highland Limited Textiles, Magnavox in Tenn. and as a hairdresser in several different salons through the years.  She thoroughly enjoyed participating in sports all of her life and excelled at everything she played in.  She also provided care to elderly ladies in their homes over the years and was a blessing to all she served in that capacity.  No matter where she went or what situation she found herself in, her personality and nature endeared her to all she met and she made many fast and true friends because of it.  All who knew her loved her and she will be deeply missed.  In addition to her parents, a brother, A. J. McGee, preceded her in death.

Nancy leaves behind, in addition to her beloved husband Richard, two brothers, Archie McGee of Nebo and Douglas McGee and wife Brenda of Lexington; and two sisters, Loretta Schreck and husband David of Marion and Linda Casey and husband James of Glen Alpine.  In addition, she leaves many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins who sincerely loved her and because of her undying love for them, are tremendously saddened by her passing.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Dean Owenby officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in the cemetery of Nebo First Baptist Church.  Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation Carolinas Chapter at 200 East Woodlawn Road, Suite 156, Charlotte, NC 28217, or to the American Diabetes Association at 16-A Brozzinni Court, Greenville, SC  29615.
