Welcome to the memorial page for

Patsy "Pat" Ruth (McCormick) Proctor

November 20, 1937 ~ March 13, 2017 (age 79)

The Piano Brothers

Mrs. Patsy “Pat” McCormick Proctor, age 79, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017 at Autumn Care of Marion following two years of declining health.  At her departure from this side of eternity, the love of her family, and particularly J.D., her beloved husband enveloped her in her final moments.  She and J.D. exchanged wedding vows sixty-three years to the day prior to her passing.  A lifelong resident of McDowell County, Pat was born on November 20, 1937 to the late Edgar and Willie Anderson McCormick.  She retired from the Department of Corrections and was a faithful member of Vein Mountain Baptist Church.  Her family was everything to her and the time she was able to spend with them meant more to her than anything.  Pat loved going to the beach and was always ready for a good cookout.  All who were fortunate enough to know this sweet lady will miss her dearly and mourn the loss but rejoice that she is finally with her Savior and suffers no more.

Pat leaves behind her husband, J.D. Proctor, Jr.; four children, John Proctor and wife Teresa of Marion, Del Proctor and wife Sharon of Marion, Mandy Proctor Crisp and husband Jody of Nebo, and James D. Proctor III, of Marion; three sisters, Mary Clontz and husband Bill of Marion, Jane Terrell and husband Bob of Nebo, and Joann Mead of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Nick Bailey and wife Michelle, Jessica Ramsey and husband Nic, Taylor Wilson and husband Brent, and Alexe Morgan; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion.  A service in celebration of her life will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Barry Gouge officiating.  Burial will be in Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.  Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.  For those desiring to make a memorial contribution in her memory, the family would encourage consideration of her church at 288 Maple Avenue, Marion, NC  28752.
