Mr. Frank D. “Slim” Carver, age 76, of Glen Alpine, passed away at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care in Valdese on Saturday, April 21, 2012 following a period of declining health. A native of Cosby, TN, he was born on March 31, 1936 to the late Lewis Carver and Nettie Kate Carver. Frank was retired from Henredon Furniture Company in Morganton where, due to his talented workmanship, he worked for over 36 years as a valued employee. He was a loving, caring and loyal husband, father, grandfather and friend. He made friends easily and never met a stranger. His heart belonged to his family and he would do anything to bring them happiness. His first wife, Marie Cox Carver, and a great-granddaughter, M’Kaylia Webb, preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of eleven years, Anna Cronk Carver; four children, Deborah “Dee” Webb of Morganton, Amanda Landis and her husband Paul of Hickory, Stephen Hines and his wife Michelle of Morganton and Marvin Carver of Morganton; a brother, David Carver of Kernsville; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A service in celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Westmoreland Chapel with Rev. Brad Farnham officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Old Nebo Cemetery. Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
