Lena Edwards Lovelace, age 82, of Marion, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2012 at her residence with her loving family by her side. She was born in Yancey County, NC on September 26, 1929 to the late Elbert Edwards and Elzie McCurry Edwards. Lena had retired from Baxter’s and was owner of Farmer J’s Market and was a member of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a loving sister, aunt and friend. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Worth Lovelace; one sister, Foy Crowder and one brother, John Edwards.
Left to cherish her memories are her sister, Bonnie Edwards; brother, James Edwards and his wife, Louise; brother, Lonnie Edwards and his wife, Shirley; sister, Nina Wilson and her husband, Mack; sister-in-law, Margie Edwards. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Lovelace will be held Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church with Revs. Milton Hollifield, Alan Sailors and David Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
