Mrs. Virginia Brown Hensley, age 88, of Old Fort, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at The McDowell Hospital. Virginia was born in McDowell County on March 13, 1924 to the late Jessie H. Brown and Dona Kaylor Brown. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Her family and friends will remember her as a generous and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Paul D. Hensley and a daughter Janice Marie Hensley.
 
Surviving are four children, Alvin Hensley and his wife Glenda, Carl “Bo” Hensley and his wife Debbie, and Jean Adams, all of Old Fort, and Deanna Caldwell and her husband Thomas of Morganton; a sister, Maxine Metcalf and a brother, Vernon Brown, both of Old Fort; two half-brothers, Ken and Don Brown; two half-sisters, Susan King and Carol Matthews; six grandchildren, Anna Helms, Paul Hensley, Erin Adams, LeAnn Jacklett, and Josh and Justin Sanders; and two great-grandchildren, Brooke and Jared Helms.
 

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Revs. Tony Shirley and Charles Hughes officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery. Westmoreland Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
