Johnny Hershell Shuford, age 54, of Old Fort, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Campus – Mission Hospitals in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, Johnny was born February 8, 1958 and was a son of the late Edmond Caulder and Peggy Noblitt Caulder. Johnny enjoyed watching NASCAR. He will be remembered by his family as a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather.
Saddened by the loss of Mr. Shuford is his wife, Linda Lanning Shuford of the home; four children, Johnny Shuford of Old Fort, Nicklette Laws and husband Tim of Old Fort, Dewayne Greene of Rockingham, NC and Lee Greene of Rockingham, NC; one brother, Jamie Caulder of Laurinburg, NC; three sisters, Julie Caulder of Bennettsville, SC, Caroline Quick of Bennettsville, SC and Racheal Caulder of Kentucky; seven grandchildren; aunts, Martha Furr and husband Jerry of Old Fort, Helen Paul of Old Fort and Patsy Shepard of Rockingham.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11:00 am in Westmoreland Chapel – Old Fort, NC. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am, prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Noblitt Family Cemetery on Bethlehem Road.
