Ted A. Mitchell, age 73, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 13, 2013 at his residence.  Born in Yancey County, NC on February 5, 1940, he was the son of the late Frank and Marie Hensley Mitchell.  Ted was a painter by trade and had also worked in construction and steel rod building.  He was a member of Ironworkers International and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades.  Ted was also a member of First Christian Church of Marion.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by four siblings, Nan Fender, Joyce Edwards, Ella Von Mitchell and Walter Mitchell.

He is survived by four brothers, Jimmy Frank Mitchell and wife Doris of Hico, WV, Bill Mitchell and wife Shirley of Marion, Pastor Don Mitchell and wife Sue of Marion and Johnny Mitchell and wife Shelia of Williamson, SC; three sisters, Norma Lewis and husband Henry of Marion, Mitt McCerry and husband Terry of China Grove, NC and Joan Mitchell of Marion and numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Pastor’s Bill Mitchell and Don Mitchell officiating.  Interment will follow at Bradley Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Those wishing to make memorial donations in Mr. Mitchell’s memory are asked to consider, First Christian Church of Marion, 1709 Rutherford Road, Marion, NC 28752.

Our prayers are with you all. Ted was a very sweet and loving person he love his family and everyone he meet. He spent a hour and a half talking to Tim on Thursday and will help Tim. I always love him and remember him for the person I grow to know and love a brother in Christ.
