Jimmy Franklin Rader died Saturday, April 2, 2005 at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas from injuries after being struck by an automobile March 31, 2005. Jimmy was born in Marion, N. C. on December 2, 1933 and was a son of the late Alvin W. Rader, Sr and Clyde Stepp Rader. He grew up in Marion, graduating from Marion High School and joining the military, serving in the US Army at Fort Jackson, SC. Graduating from Berea College in Kentucky, he went on to a successful career as sales representative and district manager with Burroughs-Welcome and then with Glaxo-Smith-Kline.
Jimmy is survived by his present wife, Pauline Rader, ex-wives Linda Rader and Coleen Rader, mother of his two daughters, Jayme Justice and Allison Rader and three grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers, Alvin W. Rader, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, Eugene Rader of Cypress, Texas and sisters, Jeanette Ostwalt, of Troutman, NC and Lynda Rumfelt of Clemmons, N. C.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church in Allen, Texas on April 7, 2005. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 99 N. Main Street, Marion, N. C. 28752.
