Mr. Hoyle Dean Elliott, age 74, of Marion, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at his residence.  A native of McDowell County,  Mr. Elliott was born August 24, 1939 and was a son of the late Spencer O’Connor Elliott and Cora Gouge Elliott.  Mr. Elliott started his career with J. B. Brooks Electric and retired as an electrician and business owner.  He was a veteran of the US Army.  Preceding Mr. Elliott in death was his wife, Mona Lee Ricketts Elliott and a son, Scott Elliott.  

Left to cherish Mr. Elliott’s memory are five children:  Donna Willis and husband Doug of Marion, Marty Elliott and wife Danya of Sugar Hill, Deanna Moody and husband Larry of Madison, VA, Larry Elliott of Buck Creek and Spencer Elliott of Buck Creek; one brother, Hoyt Elliott of Buck Creek; two sisters, Ernestine Moody and Regina Elliott, both of Morganton; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, January 23, 2014 at 3:00 pm with Revs. Johnny Johnson and Ronnie Gentry officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home.  Interment will be in McDowell Memorial Park with military honors provided by the U.S. Army from Fort Bragg, N. C.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park #1, Asheville, N. C. 28801.

So sorry for your loss. Hoyle Dean was a very good man and very dear to me. I grew up with his kids and the whole family is like my own family. so very sorry
