Ernest Kenneth Chapman

August 14, 1936 ~ November 28, 2019 (age 83)

Obituary

Mr. Ernest Kenneth Chapman, age 83, of the Dysartsville community, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 28, 2019.  He was born in McDowell County on August 14, 1936 to the late Dots Chapman and Maude McKinney Chapman.  Ernest was retired from Morganton Dye & Finishing and later worked for McDowell Waste Management.  He was a man of many interests who loved Bluegrass music, trains and RFD TV.  He was especially good at cooking and never tired of trying new recipes.  He mostly loved his family though, and had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, of which he was blessed with an abundance.  Ernest was a faithful member of Laurel Hill Baptist Church.  A daughter, Teresa Pitman (and her husband Mike), two granddaughters, Serena Chapman and Brandy Baker, and a grandson, Jamie Jones, preceded him in death.
