Ethel (McKinney) Waycaster

May 5, 1925 ~ March 23, 2018 (age 92)

Ethel McKinney Waycaster, age 92, of Marion, is home now, in the company of her Savior Jesus Christ firstly, her two sons who went before her, her beloved Billy Graham, and all the Saints of Old who she came to know through reading The Word all these years.  Her faith transformed into reality when she left this side of eternity for her eternal home, her hand being held as it so often was by her dear husband.  Born in Mitchell County on May 5, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Wise McKinney and Ada Collis McKinney.  Ethel was loved by many, and returned that love many times over to those close to her.  A workmate to her loving husband, she contributed much to Nick Waycaster Stone Company but she showed her love in other ways as well, preparing wonderful meals and keeping the needs of her family first and foremost in her life.  A strong, prayerful Christian, she was a member of Hicks Chapel Baptist Church where they attended for over 75 years.  She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved this dear saint.  Two sons, Nick Berley Waycaster, and Kenneth Louie Waycaster, preceded her in death.

Saddened by this loss are her husband of 76 years, Nick “Chub” Waycaster of the home; three grandsons, Nick B. Waycaster, Jr. and wife Kelly, Kenneth Louis Waycaster, Jr. and wife Tonya, and Michael B. Waycaster and wife Angie, all of Marion; numerous great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Marilyn Wood and husband John of Little Switzerland; and four nephews, Jimmy McKinney and wife Jerry, Mike Waycaster and wife Linda, David Waycaster and wife Pat, and Alvin Waycaster, all of Marion.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Monday, March 26, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Chad Wise and Dr. George Ellis officiating.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Hicks Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.  Honored to act as pallbearers are Jimmy McKinney, David Waycaster, Jeff Waycaster, Johnny Davis, Darrin Helton, and Lester Fender.  The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to the staff of CarePartners Hospice McDowell for the loving care extended to Ethel and the entire Waycaster family during Ethel's illness.  Flowers are appreciated, however, those desiring to make a memorial contribution are encouraged to consider CarePartners Hospice McDowell at PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
