Harold Best

October 18, 1956 ~ August 19, 2018 (age 61)

Mr. Harold Best, age 61, of Morganton, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018 at the St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville.  A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Harold was born on October 18, 1956 to the late Alfred T. Best and Margey Jolly Best.  He was the owner of Foothills Fabrications, a metal fabrication firm located in Morganton.  His hard work, commitment and enthusiasm for his trade established his company as a go-to source for hard to find and custom metal products of all kinds.  Harold was also a very talented artist who enjoyed painting and woodworking among other ways of expressing his concepts.  There are not enough words to describe who Harold Best was.  He was kind, honest, and as everyone knows had a great sense of humor.  He will be greatly missed and his memories and legacy will live on through the lives of the people he influenced.  Harold was tough but had the biggest heart.  No words can describe his strength and dedication and his memories will be cherished and never forgotten.  His kindness and concern for not only his employees, but family and friends, was well-known and those who knew and loved him are saddened by his passing.

Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Debbie Frazza Best, of the home; two daughters, Samantha Best of Glen Alpine and Aly Best of Drexel; a brother, Randy Best and wife Robin of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters, Anita Best and Lorraine Best, both of Phoenix, AZ; and two grandchildren, Eason Harmon and Ivy Benfield.

A private celebration of his life will take place at a later date.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society at 120 Executive Park, Building 1, Asheville, NC  28801.
