Mrs. Helen Cable Dobbins, age 90, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the St. Joseph’s Campus of Mission Hospitals in Asheville following a brief illness. Helen was a native of Graham County, born on November 3, 1928 to the late Tolvin Aldridge and Clara Cable Aldridge. She was a faithful member of Sugar Hill Baptist Church. She loved children and her loving nature drew them to her. She will be missed very much. Helen was retired from Baxter Healthcare. Helen’s first husband, Wayne Cable, and her second husband, Clinton Dobbins, preceded her in death as did three children, Johnny Jeffrey Cable, Norma Faye Toland, and Aaron “Butch” Cable.
Surviving her are four daughters, Nancy Day of Marion, Jeanette Dalton and husband Dan of Hickory, Kathy English of Marion, Patsy Kellogg and husband Chuck of Marion, and a foster daughter, Jennifer McMahan of Marion; and three sisters, Ida Brooks of Marion, Lois Eller of Robbinsville, and Icie Banks of Burnsville. Eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive her.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Robinson and Rev. Bruce Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery where Helen will be laid to rest beside her beloved Wayne.
