James Earl Lonon

January 28, 1934 ~ April 21, 2019 (age 85)


James E. Lonon, age 85, of Marion, Passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2019 at the Charles George VA Medical Center with his loving wife and son by his side. James was born on January 28, 1934 in McDowell County to the late James E. Lonon Sr. and Ruby Miller Lonon. He retired as Vice President of Elmore Pisgah, Inc, where he served as a vendor and received National recognition from Walmart in the 90’s. James served his Country Honorably in the United States Army at Fort Bliss, TX (White Sands Proving Grounds), where he served in the medical and dental fields. He also played on the Fort Bliss Falcons baseball team where they won the 1958 Championship, where they played against All American Alan Ameche’s team. James was a Freemason, and a member of Joppa Lodge #401 in Old Fort and attended as long as his health would allow.


He is preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly A. Lonon; a brother, Harold J. “Jack” Lonon; and a brother-in-law, Howard Bradburn.


Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Nancy Bradburn Lonon of the home; a son, James E. Lonon III of Qingdao, China; a brother, Jerry D. Lonon of Johnson City, TN; and several nieces and nephews.


James E. Lonon, Jr. will be laid to rest at McDowell Memorial Park, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) at 24 Cumberland Ave., Asheville, NC 28801.
