Marshall Kenneth Edwards, age 58, of Nebo, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at his home. Marshall was born in McDowell County on August 3, 1960 to the late Marshall Edwards and Mildred Edwards Sumline of Nebo. Marshall was a loving son and brother, a humble man who was always willing to help others in need. He was a member of Victory Chapel Baptist Church in Morganton. He enjoyed collecting comic books, coins and baseball cards. Marshall was a hard worker at Auria in Old Fort where he was a fork lift operator.
Surviving, in addition to his mother and her husband Joseph Sumline, are two brothers, Tim and James Edwards, both of Nebo; a step-brother, Richard Sumline and a step-sister, Tina Sumline, both of Dysartsville; two nephews, Justin Edwards and Ezekiel Edwards and his wife Mikala; two nieces, Amanda and Emily Edwards; a step-niece Bella Sumline; one great niece, Brooklynn Sanders; and one great nephew Lincoln Edwards.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Johnny McCarty and Rev. John Cope officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
