Phil Anderson, for the first time since 2009, is pain free and with his Heavenly Father. Phil, age 65, passed away after many years of declining health on Monday, September 30, 2019. A native of Buncombe County, Phil was born on November 21, 1953 to the late Carrol Anderson and Ruby Summey Anderson. Before he acquired injuries in 2009 due to a motorcycle accident, Phil enjoyed riding motorcycles and traveling the country with his wife of 24 years, Diane. Phil also was an avid guitar player. His family will remember him for the good man that he was, and his great sense of humor. Phil’s laughter and jokes will be missed by the many people that knew and loved him.
Phil leaves behind his wife, Diane Staggs Anderson of Marion; four children, Phillip Jason “P.J.” Anderson and wife Tiffeny of Hawaii, Lynn Anderson of Asheville, Nathan Blake Burnette of Marion, and Matthew Brett Burnette and wife Stefanie of Old Fort; a sister, Gail Hensley and husband Doug of Asheville; Ten Grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Keith Jamison officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brother Wolf Animal Rescue at 31 Glendale Ave, Asheville, NC, 28803.
