Rebecca “Becky” Sue White of Marion passed away Friday, January 25, 2019 following a period of declining health at the age of 63 at Frye Regional Medical Center. Becky was a native of McDowell County, born on November 18, 1955 to the late Garland and Nellie Hyde White.
She could always be counted on to help anyone in need and her big heart made her many friends. She loved her family deeply and her children, grandchildren and sister, as well as her friends, will miss her very much. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and served the Lord there in many ways, most memorably as the biscuit maker at their Saturday Breakfast fundraisers. In her free time she loved to crochet and write poems. Proceeding her in death by one sister Jenny Pressley and a nephew Matthew Pressley.
Becky leaves behind two daughters, Holly Parker of Morganton and Amanda Proffitt of Marion; her beloved sister Ann Gardner and husband Gene; four grandchildren, Kendal, Kalei, Scotty, and Richard; as well as a number of nieces and nephews who knew her as aunt Bec-Bec, including one special niece, Anna Gardner; and a best friend of 35 years, Yvonne Sheehan.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. in the Westmoreland Chapel with Revs. Jonathon Watson and Eric Grindstaff officiating. Visitation will be held following the service.
