Rev. Dale Vance

February 16, 1937 ~ December 1, 2017 (age 80)

Rev. Dale Vance, age 80, entered into eternal rest Friday, December 1, 2017.  He was at his home, surrounded by loving family, when he passed.  A native of Avery County, Dale was born on February 16, 1937 to the late Walter Harold Vance and Myrtle Phillips Vance.

Rev. Vance was a retired Bishop in the Church of God and pastored many churches all over the country during his career.  He was also fundamental in planting several churches.  He was currently a member of the State Street Church of God.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Roger Vance, and a brother, Sam Vance.


Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Norma Carpenter Vance of the home; six children, Randy Vance of Lenoir, Rick Vance of Morganton, Sandy Reynolds of Nebo, Ronald Vance of Marion, Raymond Vance of Alma, Mich., and Sara Hobbs of Granite Falls; a brother, David Vance of Marion; three sisters, Zena Joe Stockton of Marion, Shirley White of Canton, Ohio, and Jane Lawing of Marion; twelve grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.


The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. at State Street Church of God with Rev. Kenneth Lytle, Rev. Gerald Reynolds and Rev. Eddie Brewer officiating.  A service will follow in the church at 3:00 p.m.  He will be laid to rest in the Ashford Community Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers are Taylor Connor, John Atwell, Shawn Lowe, Jacob Reynolds, Matthew Houk, Aaron Vance and Ben Vance.  Honorary pallbearers are Mark and Dan Cole, Chris and Robert Smith, Chase Arnold, Austin Vance, Rance David Vance, Nathan Fox, Rusty Vance, and Aaron and Jordan Vance.  The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the special loving care given to Dale by all the staff with Hospice of Burke County during Dale’s illness.
