Nature 34

Sue Reese

January 5, 1943 ~ March 19, 2018 (age 75)

Sue Reese, age 75, of Nebo, passed away Monday, March 19, 2018 at White Oak Manor Nursing Home in Rutherfordton.  Sue was born in Marion on January 5, 1943, a daughter of the late Dallas Gouge and Lillian Haynes Gouge.  She was a CNA and worked at several nursing homes during her career.  A caregiver at heart, Sue also cared for children of DSS recipients allowing their parents to work.  Her sense of humor was well known and nothing gave her more pleasure than to make people laugh.  Her true calling in life, however, was to serve her Lord.  A member of Bethel Free Will Baptist Church, she sang in the choir as long her health allowed.  A true Christian, she loved to tell people about the Lord and one of the ways she spread the gospel was through song.  Gospel music was her favorite and she could be found singing at any given time.  Her beloved husband of 50 years, Walter “Dale” Reese, and two great-grandchildren, preceded her in death.

Sue leaves behind two sons, Steve Reese and wife Lisa of Forest City and Jimmy Reese and wife Wendy of Marion; two brothers, Linzy Gouge and John Gouge and wife Betty, all of Marion and one sister, Mary Burnette and husband Bill, of Nebo; and seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Bethel Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Stockton and Rev. Joey Beam officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Flowers are appreciated, however, those desiring to make a memorial contribution in her memory are encouraged to consider Hospice of the Carolina Foothills at PO Box 336, Forest City, NC  28043.
