On Tuesday night, January 5, 2021 at Pelican Health Asheville, Betty Lunsford entered into eternal rest, at the age of 92. Betty is the daughter of the late Roy Stevens and Sudie Hensley Stevens. She was born in McDowell County on April 8, 1928. Betty worked at Ethan & Allen Furniture, but spent most of her life being a homemaker taking care of her family. She is a longtime member of Living Waters Tabernacle and the Lady’s Auxiliary. Betty enjoyed reading, baking and cooking. She had the biggest heart and would give all she had away to others if they wanted it. Betty was strong willed, personal and sweet. Her grandchildren brought her the most joy in life. She will be missed by her family and church family.
Preceding Betty in death are her son, Eddie Lunsford and husband, Carl Howard Lunsford.
Left to cherish her memory are three children, Judy Lunsford Turner of Atlanta, GA, Jo Ann “Kitten” Lunsford Turner of Old Fort, and Marvin Lunsford and wife Shelby of Dysartsville; sister, Dee Stevens of Old Fort; brother, Caroll Stevens of Old Fort; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Betty will lie in-state on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Westmoreland Home in Old Fort. A private funeral service will be held. A recording of the funeral service will be published on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at https://www.westmorelandfuneralhome.com/obituary/Betty-Lunsford. A celebration of life will be held on Betty’s birthday, Thursday, April 8, 2021. When the celebration of life arrangements are finalized an announcement will be made.
