Boyd Dickerson Searcy

August 15, 1930 ~ February 2, 2021 (age 90)


Boyd Dickerson Searcy, age 90, of Marion, NC went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening, February 2, 2021, surrounded by his loving family.


Mr. Searcy was born August 15, 1930 in Rutherfordton, NC to the late Levi Dickerson Searcy and Edna Robertson Searcy.  He was the eldest of 7 children.  He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a member of Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon.  He retired from Fredrickson Motor Express as a truck driver.  Mr. Searcy was a very kind soul; he never had a harsh word to say about anyone.  He was very generous and loved giving to others.  He always enjoyed gardening and giving produce away.  Above all, he loved God and his family.  He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.


In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Guffey Searcy; his brother, Charles Searcy; and his sister, Louise Elliott.


Those left behind to cherish Mr. Searcy’s memory are his beloved wife, Beaupine “Beauie” Withrow Searcy; one daughter, Lynne Searcy Richey (Jerry) of Marion, NC; three step-children, Kathryn McKinney (Loren) of Marion, NC, Joe Withrow (DeeAnn) of TX and Ken Withrow (Carolyn) of TX; four siblings, David Searcy (Carolyn) of GA, Kenneth Searcy of Charlotte, NC, Velma Earley of Gastonia, NC and Charlotte Hottel (David) of TN; two best friends who were as close as brothers, Howard Edwards and Wade Bowman; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.


A private service to celebrate Mr. Searcy’s life will be held at Westmoreland Funeral Home.  Burial will follow the service at Pleasant Gardens Baptist Church Cemetery.
