On the morning of Friday, May 14, 2021, Mrs. Eva Padgett Harwood, of Old Fort, North Carolina, unexpectedly made the peaceful transition of life at her residence. The daughter of Elmer “Butch” Padgett and Shelby Harwood Padgett of Old Fort, she was born in McDowell County on May 19, 1980.
Having worked as a housekeeper for several years, Eva lived a simple life. Her greatest joy in life was her children, grandchildren and her beloved family who loved her deeply. They will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Left behind to cherish the memories they made with Eva on her journey are, in addition to her parents Shelby and Butch, her husband, Calvin Henry Harwood, and her four children, David Carver, Johnny Padgett, Shelby Harwood, and Henry Harwood, all of Old Fort. She also leaves behind her two precious grandchildren, as well as four siblings, Carlos Harwood and Barbara Jean Padgett of Old Fort, Andrew Harwood of Burnsville, and Fred Harwood of Hickory.
Eva made an impact on the lives of everyone who crossed her path along her journey and will be missed by all who had the chance to know her. In accordance with her wishes and her simple nature, no services are planned at this time.
