Faye Lovyne “Puff” Stevens Burgin, age 90, of Old Fort, North Carolina peacefully went home to be with the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 3, 2020.
A native of McDowell County, she was born on December 22, 1929 to the late Roy and Sudie H. Stevens. She was a member of Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church where she served as board member, church secretary, tithing secretary, Sunday school teacher, youth leader, Wesleyan Women officer and other positions.
Faye worked at Old Fort Finishing Plant and Beacon Manufacturing. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 68 years, Carter Junior Burgin, an infant daughter, Sheila Sue; sisters: Bernice “Buster” S. Fox; Texie Stevens, Mildred S. Moore, and Beulah S. Robertson; brothers: Ray Stevens and Gene Stevens.
She is survived by brother, Carroll Stevens; sisters: Betty S. Lunsford and Dee Stevens. She is also survived by sister-in-law Helen B. Walker and husband, Wallace.
Faye’s numerous nieces and nephews will forever treasure the motherly love she showered on all. She and Carter were our “second” mom and dad. Faye and Carter’s Christian marriage modeled true love.
The family extends their love and appreciation to Rose Hill Retirement Community for the care given to Faye over the past several years.
A graveside service for the family will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 4:00 p.m. at Cherry Springs Memorial Park with Rev. Todd Hinson officiating. Memorials may be made to Mount Hebron Wesleyan Church at 2504 Mt. Hebron Rd., Old Fort, NC 28762.
