Naomi Howell Benge, age 76, of Old Fort, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Mission Hospital – Asheville Memorial Campus.
The last and youngest of 6 children, Naomi was born February 23, 1945 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Wilburn Dallas Howell and Helen Ellis Howell. She was a member of Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church. Some of her favorite hobbies included coloring, doing puzzles, playing rummy, collecting angels. She loved listening to the McKamey’s and looking at old family pictures. She also enjoyed animated stuffed animals. Above all Naomi loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left behind to cherish Naomi’s memory are her beloved husband of 58 years, William “Bill” Benge; three children, Kelvin Benge (Mary Kay “Bridgette”) of Newport News, VA, Sonya Brendle (David) of Old Fort, NC and Jimmy Benge of Old Fort, NC; four precious grandchildren, Amanda Benge, Ashley Benge, Landon Brendle (Hope) and Alyssa Brendle; a special brother-in-law, Bud Hall of Black Mountain, NC; a special cousin, Mary Woods of Mars Hill, NC; and a long time special friend, Jane of Marion, NC.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort, NC. A funeral service to celebrate Naomi’s life will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the church with Rev. Jeffrey Parker officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.
