Thomas “Tommy” Alan Lackey of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at the age of 63. Tommy was born in Newport News, Virginia on January 29, 1958, to Z.L. Lackey Jr. and Margaret Denny Lackey.
After graduating from Asheville High School, Tommy enlisted in the United States Air Force and served as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic. He was a Christian minister of the Gospel.
He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Deborah Elizabeth Lackey.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his son, Nathaniel Thomas Lackey, and daughter Lauren Michelle Lackey, Two grandchildren, Natalie Summer Lackey and Skyler Lily Ogletree. He is also survived by his brother, Douglas Eugene Lackey, as well as two sisters, Sharon Gail Hooker, and Jeanette Marie Coulston, and several nieces and nephews.
A private service to celebrate Tommy’s life will be held at Old Fort Chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with reverend Dean Owenby officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Community Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved family.
