Dear Mr. Gibson,
On April 3, 2018 the Westmoreland Funeral Home provided the services for the funeral of William G. Greenlee. As his stepdaughter, I would like to take a few minutes to express how very much the family appreciated all Westmoreland did during our time of grief.
As a clergy person with more than 25 years of service I’ve been involved in over 100 funerals or Celebration of life Services. About an equal number were held in a funeral home versus a church. I’ve worked with old family-owned funeral homes, funeral homes that have many chain components, modern state-of-the-art funeral homes, crematories, and everything in between. Never before have I felt called to express my appreciation for the services performed by Jim Gibson, Tyler Mace, Michael Branch and the staff at Westmoreland.
Now, while it’s true that Bill had a special place in my heart, I don’t believe my appreciation of your part in Bill’s funeral influences my heart-felt thanks for the many things you di d to help my family during this journey. Things some people might consider trivial like cold bottles of water, the professionalism and respect shown by your staff, the seemly clairvoyant way your staff perceived a need and filled it before we even knew one existed – these things were not trivial to us. Always present, yet never intrusive, Westmoreland’s anticipated every possible situation and was prepared for anything.
The Military component of Bill’s service was faultless. Please express my gratitude to them. And the bag pipe musician was the best I’ve ever heard. The coordination with all aspects of Bill’s funeral, and with so many people participating in it, was flawless. But the crowning touch was the Tootsie Rolls in a bowl at Westmoreland’s. Did you know that someone, and not a family member, slipped a Tootsie Roll in Bill’s hand in the casket? So I just wanted to thank you again for making this difficult time a little easier for those of us who loved Bill Greenlee. Westmoreland’s Funeral Home will always hold a special place in our hearts. May God continue to bless the service you so expertly provide.
